I suppose I have to say it louder for the people in the back–you know the ones that completely refuse to see the current reality of the country they live in.

I am truly fascinated with those who argue that wearing a mask is the equivalent to compliance to an overpowering government. What overpowering government? Oh, you mean the same one with the president that has done nothing to slow the spread of COVID-19, as cases continue to surge across states that are playing with fire as they attempt to reopen? The federal government is actually asking nothing from you; that’s the real problem.

The laws that are in place that require you to wear masks in public areas is your LOCAL government taking a stand to care about your well being, since our failure-of-a-president refused to do so. Trump didn’t care in February and he certainly doesn’t care now considering how he blatantly dismisses the fact that he royally screwed up as the leader of this country at the cost of thousands of American lives.

The pushback on authority to walk without a mask and the complete disregard of scientific data has absolutely nothing to do with “being free” from government power. Quit your hissy fit about not wanting to wear a mask because you want to “live your life” during a global pandemic. You’re more fortunate than you think, so I advise that you start counting your blessings because frankly you’re lucky to have any.

This virus is a terrible illness, but so is ignorance. Look at the state of this country; the damage is done. Trump has picked green paper over our lives and continues to divide the nation rather than unite it. This is the United States president now, but he doesn’t have to be if we all do our part to vote him out this November, to get our country on the real road to recovery.
